COVID Inquiry

Well Adapt is contracted by Disability Rights UK (DR UK) to support Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) as a core participants on the Covid-19 Inquiry.
Well Adapt helps to guide Bhatt Murphy, the legal team representing the DPOs, on how to talk about disability when giving evidence during the Inquiry. This is based on the social model of disability, which views disability as being caused by societal barriers rather than impairments or conditions. The aim is to represent a wide range of disabled people’s experiences during the pandemic.
We engage with disabled people & collect their stories to ensure they’re being represented accurately in the Inquiry. We also put together recommendations for policy change to prevent harm to disabled people in the next pandemic. DPOs recommendations are presented to the government during the Inquiry, and each organisation continues to lobby for improvements to the system that will support disabled people.
