Education Accessibility Assessment

A person with their arms in the air and three stars above their head, sat at a desk with a computer on it

Well Adapt completed an accessibility assessment for a disabled people’s organisation dedicated to closing the disability employment gap in the UK. We helped them assess the accessibility of the educational materials in their online courses.

What Did Well Adapt Do?

We ran a consultation with disabled and neurodivergent people on whether the organisation’s online learning system was actually working for them. This included 1 to 1 interviews, user testing, and focus groups. Then we wrote a report on how Disabled and neurodivergent people were feeling about the online learning offering.

This allowed the organisation to ensure their resources were accessible to Disabled users.

Common web accessibility challenges include poor contrast between text and the background, lack of screen reader compatibility, lack of captions for audio and video, missing alt text and image descriptions, and support for keyboard only navigation. Taking these into consideration ensures that everyone can access online materials.
